workshop retreat to be held in Kinglake, Victoria
May 2 - 5, 2024
Strictly limited to 14 residential and 4 non-residential places
This songwriters' retreat is perfect for songwriters of all levels, from beginners to advanced. Our skilled leaders and structured learning sessions will give you the confidence and tools to be able to create songs that connect.
David and Merelyn (Carter & Carter) together with well-known award-winning songwriters Lyn Bowtell, Gretta Ziller and Lachlan Bryan will deliver skill-learning workshops and also focus one-on-one with each participant teaching the skills they have gained through highly successful songwriting/artist careers, demystifying the songwriting process.
Once you know how, songwriting will be a creative pursuit that you will be able to move forward with confidently in your career as a songwriter and/or artist. All this in a positive environment with lots of laughs, learning and live music. Hosted at the stunning Karma Kinglake accommodation, all within walking distance of the centre of Kinglake .

Because the workshop is limited to 14 residential and 4 non-residential participants it means that we will have the flexibility to address issues of individuals and adjust the workshop sessions to best address the needs of the participants.

Upon booking, you can tell us your songwriting experiences so far and we will tailor your course to meet your needs.
The gorgeous Karma Kinglake is an amazing retreat accommodation just a few kms from our farm. You will be accommodated there, with all meals provided, including morning and afternoon teas, light lunches and Thursday, Friday and Saturday night meals.
Here are the important details:
Date: May 2 - 5, 2024. Plan to arrive Thursday evening.
Travel: You are responsible for getting yourselves to the venue. If you are driving we will, of course, provide good instructions and if you intend to fly in, please see below.
Transfers: For those flying in from interstate we will coordinate your arrival times on Thursday and collect you from Melbourne Airport (Tullamarine) at 4pm to bring you to Kinglake (approx.. 70 mins from the airport depending on the time of day). And return you on Sunday at 5pm. Accommodation is all included (room configurations shown below) as are all meals, drinks etc. (except for alcohol). We anticipate you will arrive Thursday afternoon and leave Sunday afternoon. Three nights accommodation are provided, however, if you wish to extend your stay, that can be arranged with Karma Kinglake directly or you might like to visit some other local areas. If you stay on for further nights, you will need to find your own way back to the airport, but please talk to us about it - we might have something up our sleeve.
Payment Plan:
Non - Residential: We have a limited number of non-residential spots available. These spots include meals, but do not include accommodation.
Fee is $1000 inc GST - Several payments plans are available as shown below

$500 deposit upon booking. Then $500 balance 6 weeks before the retreat starts.

Fortnightly or weekly payment plans are available upon request by calling 0416 075 638.
Residential: We have a strictly limited number of residential spots available. These spots include all accommodation and meals.
Accommodation options are shown below The weekend is an all-ages retreat.
There are three room configurations available (these will be assigned upon booking and availability).

2 residential spots - single rooms with own bathroom - $1500
-
6 residential spots - single rooms with shared bathroom with 2 or 3 others - $1420

6 residential spots - twin share rooms and shared bathroom with 2 or 3 others - $1320
Payment plans are available as shown below

50% deposit upon booking to confirm your place. Then the balance payment of 50% is due 6 weeks before the retreat starts.

Invoices will be issued and some of you may be able to claim the trip on your tax.
Refund Policy: As you will appreciate there is no funding for this event and to secure the tutors and accommodation, catering etc., we need to be assured of numbers. For this reason, course fees are not refundable, but if for some extreme reason, you cannot attend at the last minute, please let us know and we will discuss options to book you in for a future retreat (an administration fee will apply).
